I have genuinely never felt so deeply disturbed by a company to any degree in my life, so this is hard to even go on about. Selling a house is a stressful process, it’s not something an average person or family just does on a whim, it’s something that my husband and I have dreaded since buying our house (we are active duty military). We knew this was a long and difficult process, but felt reassured by Austin Hellickson. We signed with him and were confident in his words, and his history in general. He was referred to us by friends that felt confident in his abilities, and his abilities definitely speak for him. He’s a wonderful agent in the city, however, we are not located in the city. Our house is roughly 2-4 hours away from wherever he is located, which means we spent a lot of time over the phone trying to get answers to any questions or concerns we had. At minimum, it would take 3 days to hear back from his Listing Coordinator Adrian, who we liked and had no problems with. Busy company, right? Lots of houses being sold, understandable. On average, it took several weeks to even get ahold of Austin. By the time that would happen, we would have just talked ourselves down and made ourselves think it wasn’t a big deal. Upon talking to several other agencies, it definitely was a problem. I won’t get into the nitty gritty of why specifically this agent is avoidant, or maybe just didn’t care about our house specifically, but the hook liner is after trying to leave politely, 8 months after listing and not getting absolutely anywhere, being left out of the loop, ignored and treated unfairly - Austin personally apologized for us “crying to the broker instead of having a conversation with him first”. If this is how this company conducts relationships with signed, potential or previous buyers, I pray for everyone affiliated with them. In the matter of 5 hours, Austin’s family history came to us by several agents who know him personally. Several agents who know him personally offered their opinion about how we needed to get out of our contract. People my husband works with that have bought and sold through Austin have also not had great things to say. I’m disappointed in the level of bad practice, and the issue of ethics within this agent.
